COMMITTED TO RESPONSIBLE, 100% ESTATE GROWN WINE

For almost twenty years, we have dedicated ourselves to our farm, our vines and our crops. Our guiding principle has always been to preserve the sanctity of our site which means adhering to the strictest viticultural practices and the insistence upon vine balance ensuring the highest quality grapes. Handcrafted and locally minded in our approach, all of our wines are 100% Estate Grown and Bottled. Every grape that goes into our wine is grown, managed responsibly and hand harvested on our land. As a result, our wines exhibit exceptional aromatics and a deliciously rich yet astonishingly elegant flavor profile. Our dedication to the region is reflected in the stewardship of our land and the use of fresh ingredients which carries over to our kitchen. Our food is made from local ingredients, many from our farm, with the intention of providing the freshest and highest quality fare.

Our family and team of farmers, grape growers, winemakers and chefs welcomes friends, neighbors and visitors, as well as those experiencing from afar, to enjoy our wine and food.   • OUR VINEYARD IS BORN

    The first vinifera vines, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Chardonnay – the quintessential varietals of the Finger Lakes, are planted at our home farm. Cattle were and continue to be used to eliminate invasive plant species and add organic matter to the soil prior to all subsequent plantings.

  • Our Last Major Planting

    Our final blocks to date are established. Our plantings now include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer and the earliest planting of Grüner Veltliner in New York State.

  • OUR FIRST ESTATE GROWN AND BOTTLED WINE

    In what has been referred to by some as “the vintage of the decade” we produced our first commercially available wine – Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and our highly acclaimed Pinot Noir.

  • Our Carriage House

    Our Carriage House, which formerly was only used for production, was opened to the public for tastings and now served dual purpose.

  • THE TASTING BARN OPENS

    After four years of restoration, the 150 year old canted queen post barn once used to store hay is reopened and given new life as The Tasting Barn.

  • OUR NEIGHBORS RETIRE

    We have the opportunity to purchase an adjoining farm allowing us access to a vineyard block Ryan planted and managed back in 2006. We now have access to Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah and begin making wine using those varietals from grapes grown during the 2020 vintage.

Our Philosophy

The three pillars of Ryan William Vineyard are our Vineyard, our Wine and The Tasting Barn. The Estate Grown philosophy and practice results in both wine and cuisine that present an honest expression of their ingredients. Our restored barn venue plays host to the experience.

Our Vineyard is optimally situated on Seneca Lake's eastern shore.

In an ideal microclimate, with plantings extended to the shoreline, our carefully selected site, varietals, plant material and rootstock create wines which best express the vintage.
